The Riverside Record today kicked off its biggest fundraiser of the year: NewsMatch, a nationwide campaign to support nonprofit journalism.

There’s never been a more critical time to support independent newsrooms like The Record, which provides a critical public service for communities across Riverside County.

“For those who have been thinking about becoming a donor, now is a great time to make sure your dollars make the biggest impact possible,” Publisher Alicia Ramirez said. “For those who have donated to The Record in the past, your generosity is what allows us to continue to do this work.”

Here’s how it works:

NewsMatch will match all new monthly donations 12 times or double one-time gifts, all up to $1,000. That means that, through NewsMatch, we can earn up to $17,000 in matching funds.

The Record is also able to receive what are called “bonus funds” for hitting certain benchmarks.

If 50 people donate to The Record for the first time, we’ll receive an additional $1,000. Also, if we’re able to secure $20,000 in local matching funds that we can use to leverage additional donations, we’ll receive an additional $3,000.

This means The Record has the opportunity to bring in $21,000 of national funding into Riverside County to continue its vital reporting on city councils, school boards and county governance.

“I know that times are hard for so many, but my hope is that those who value the work we do will be able to contribute to our year-end campaign and set us up for continued success in 2026,” Ramirez said.

Those who want to support The Record’s year-end campaign can do so here.
