The Romoland School District Board of Education last month unanimously appointed O’rell Colbert to fill the Trustee Area 3 seat.

“Becoming a new board trustee is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact and contribute to all areas of the Romoland district,” Colbert said in an email to The Record. “It is truly an exhilarating feeling to be a board member, and I am eagerly looking forward to building relationships within the community.”

According to the district, Colbert is a retired Army veteran with 20 years of service who has spent the last decade working in education and has lived in the trustee area for the last nine years.

Colbert’s appointment came after the resignation of Board Member Cinda Sarian, who stepped down after moving out of the trustee area.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as a board member for this outstanding school district,” she wrote in her resignation letter.

Colbert’s appointment runs through the remainder of Sarian’s term, which would have ended in December 2024.

“The reason I wanted to apply for this position is that I have always been passionate about community service,” Colbert said. “Being on a school board offers a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the community by contributing to the development and improvement of educational opportunities.”
